I believe that the film did not answer the question “American dream or art world scheme?” because there is no definite answer. Modern art sprung from emotions, and feelings and a need for something different, for something that says something. It is indeed an American dream, because it is freeing, it is freedom. Being able to express whatever you want, in whatever way you want, whether on a canvas or through the hot glueing of trash, is an ultimate freedom. In many cases people will feel that they are being cheated by modern art, mostly because there seems to be a lack of effort and emotion behind some pieces. Maybe it is a scheme or maybe it is not, either way modern art is still beautiful and free and for now that is all that matters.
