My Kid Could Paint That- Post One Choice B

The quote means to state that when one sees a piece of artwork the overall feeling or idea of the painting should be obvious at once. I disagree. I find that the person who stated the quote was maybe a bit lazy in the way that they view art. Many times art does not explain itself to the viewer, this is especially true for modern art. If one doesn't understand a piece of art it is not the arts fault, but nor is it the viewers fault. Art is very subjective. Many different people can have different views on artwork and that is okay.

In the film Marla paints modern paintings and because she is only four it creates quite a buzz. Modern art is often very abstract and not everyone gets it. In the movie the one women reporter, who wrote the first article on Marla, told us that her mother had believed that modern art was ridiculous because it was difficult to understand, and she believed that the an artist was committing a personal attack on her, saying that she was stupid because she could not understand modern art. I feel that that is a part of art, seeing a piece that you do not understand, their are different views and there are meant to be. If everyone felt the same way about the same piece of artwork, and everyone got the piece, then modern art would lose some of its meaning.
